The Technicalities of E-Backup

E-Backup Systems is a Microsoft Windows based fully automated backup solution.
Our software presents itself with an easy to use familiar GUI without leaving behind the power of a state-of-the-art backup system. Our software is designed to be easy enough to use by the average computer user, yet has the advanced features that will excite the biggest computer goers. Read below to learn about how E-Backup Systems works!

After a user has signed up for our service, the online installation will begin. Upon the completion of installation the user chooses a unique username and password for their account. Our system will automatically generate a Triple DES encryption key known only to the organization/user installing the E-Backup Systems software. See the image below for an example of the encryption key information.

After installation the user will be able to configure the properties of the E-Backup software that will secure his/her user data. Each user has many flexible features to customize their backup set ensuring proper backups for their individual experience. See the following list of customizable features available to E-Backup users:

  • Backup Set Name
  • Number of Unique Backup Sets
  • Backup Schedule (Anytime – 24x7)

Online Backup Software & Services

Once the backup has been set, the user’s only responsibility is to wait for the backups to happen automatically!

At the prescheduled time selected by the user, the E-Backup Systems software will automatically scan the user’s drives for new or changed data, select and categorize the specific files, compress the files, encrypt the files, and then send them offsite to a data storage facility to be backed up.

In many cases archived files are compressed between 70% and 90% of the original file size!

For additional security and to ensure proper backups, your backup is verified for integrity before, during, and after the transaction reaches the secure data storage servers. This verification ensures that the copy of the backup that is on the RAID servers is identical to the copy that was sent from your location at home or the office.

Email Verification:

One of the key features of E-Backup Systems is that upon completion of the transfer and backup of your information, the E-Backup servers automatically send you an email confirming your backup has been successful. Attached within this email is a detailed log file that can be reviewed by the user.

Disaster Recovery or Simple File Restoration

If a disaster were to occur, recovery of files is only a click away. Begin the restoration process by clicking the RESTORE option from the menu, select the files you want to restore, and the software restores the tagged files.

Restoring any version of any of your backed up files is made easy by accessing the list of all the available files on the E-Backup servers through the software’s advanced user interface. The file listing is sorted by “Backup Set Name” and “Backup Date”, enabling the user to view every saved version of the file rather than only the latest version. This is the dynamic version control system built into E-Backup.

Online Backup Software & Services

E-Backup Systems also features a file search system so that the users can select from individual files and/or sets of files by tagging files individually or in groups. By making a single selection, the File Finder has the power to separate the latest version of all files; a particular subdirectory; a single drive letter; or file names matching a certain criteria. Files can be untagged in the same way. With this agility, any set of files you want is virtually at your fingertips simply by using combinations of any or all tagging options. This means, if you wanted to restore any “.DOC” file, you could select this option. If you needed to restore a SQL DB Backup file, you could simply select all the “.BAK” files and have your latest files at your disposal.

Your tagged files are then restored to the original file location automatically by the E-Backup software. If you wanted to redirect the destination directory of the restored file, our software allows for this easily through the click of a button. Our servers verify the requested data and securely transport the files back to your computer. The data is then decrypted on your local machine ensuring maximum security.

E-Backup runs on all versions of Windows 95, 98, NT, XP , ME , 2000, and 2003. E-Backup supports all networks that run with these operating systems.
